Jericho Baptist Church was founded in June of 1990 and is a Bible-believing Baptist church. Pastor Tom Galvin was the first Pastor and he served a number of years until he resigned his position. The next Pastor was Brother Wakemen who remained with the church for a couple of years. The Lord put a burden on his heart to care for troubled youth, so he resigned his position to pursue God’s leading in his life. In the void left by Pastor Wakemen, God led Dale Russell to answer the call to Pastor the church. He and his family served at Jericho Baptist a few years before moving south to take another church. The next Pastor was Kurt Eikenberry who moved, with his family, to Gillette to fill the vacant pulpit. After several years, Pastor Eikenberry decided to resign the church to handle some personal matters. In his absence, Doug Baker stepped in as Pastor to lead the church. He is the current Pastor of Jericho Baptist Church.
Jericho has often fluctuated in size depending on the oil field and coal mining industry. Through the ministries of Jericho Baptist Church, souls have been saved, Christians have been edified, and missionaries have been supported. Jericho is a growing and busy church in the work of the Lord here in the Gillette area and throughout the west, and are excited about the opportunities in the future as we search for a larger facility to house our congregation and the Lord’s work.
